Coalition of the Willing

As we continue to see and be horrified by the genocide and the complete destruction of Gaza by the Neo Nazi Israeli government led by Netanyahu, the Coalition of the Willing, which includes the US, the UK, Germany, France and other EU countries, stands by, “Willing” to do next to nothing to stop this carnage. This highlights two key aspects: the US’s power, both militarily and economically, and the economic and military weakness of the UK and Europe, as well as their limited influence on the global stage.

What is absolutely clear is that the US and Europe, including the UK, are complicit in genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity being committed by the current Israeli regime. The US does not want to stop this; the UK and Europe are unable to. The UK will make much of its recognition of a Palestinian State, which is 75 years too late and is a mere political fig leaf for them and their European allies, cloaked in PHG, Post Holocaust Guilt. If the UK and Europe are unwilling or unable to stop the genocide, the starvation and the destruction of Gaza, what will they do when the IDF, Israel’s version of the Wehrmacht, starts to annex parts of the West Bank? The IDF have slaughtered over 60,000 Gazans, including 30,000 women and children, with an additional 140,000 killed as a direct impact of the conflict. This includes those not yet found under the rubble, those who have died because of the destruction of medical facilities and unavailability of life-saving drugs, and finally those who have died because of a man-made famine, a famine which Israel’s President has denied.

The current onslaught approved by Trump and his Christian Zionist mates, such as Mike Huckerbee, will continue until Trump and Smotrich get their dream of a new Mediterranean Riviera built on the blood and bodies of 200,000 Gazans, of which tens of thousands will be children.

It seems the Chosen People have chosen to give the two fingers to “Never Again”, and Christian Zionist and Ultra Conservative Evangelical Christians have made the call that genocide is a price worth paying towards the second coming. What is also clear is that it is not the meek that have inherited the earth, which puts paid to the existence of an imaginary friend in the sky.

One response to “Coalition of the Willing”

  1. thoughts on the digital ID?

I am against compulsory State ID, because it is the slow and unstoppable walk into Orwell’s 1984. This in spite of peoples personal data and everything else already in the hands of unregulated American and Chinese mega corps. Its not going to “stop the boats” or prevent unscrupulous employers breaking the law by employing refugees. Though we wouldn’t have to produce their IDs when stopped on the street under the Prime Ministers plans, a future government could simply change that. Just imagine how useful ID cards could be used in Trump-style mass deportations – especially if that effort was linked to facial recognition technology already in use by the police, creating a system capable of automatically scanning crowds anywhere from a rush-hour train station to a football or Gaelic match and then matching faces against a citizen database. Suddenly, there would be nowhere to hide. Just imagine how some future regime could potentially use such tools, perhaps not just against visa overstayers and so called illegal migration but anyone “deemed” an enemy of the state. Too Dystopian, too Handmaid’s Tale ,or too Chinese Communist Party?

The way you deal with mass migration is to embrace the Brandt Commission Report and invest in countries that we in the West have been pillaging for centuries. This investment will now include dealing with the climate crisis and mitigation thereof. What it isn’t, is cutting international development investment from 0.7% of GDP meaning £17.5 billion a year to 0.3%,£7.0 billion. This poses an additional moral and philosophical question “Is humanity as a collective agent an illusion”.
