Madison Square Gardens, A Deplorable Moment

When in 2016 I heard Hilary describe Trump supporters as the “Deplorables”, I put my head in my hands and said, she has just blown it, and history proved as much. The Trump rally at Madison Square Gardens has done much the same, calling Puerto Ricans garbage and making crass racist remarks about Latinos. Hopefully, this will prove to Puerto Ricans, Latinos and all African Americans and all other Americans with a modicum of wit, that the underbelly of Trump’s party is authoritarian, isolationist and racist. Trump has refused to condemn any of the remarks and again you have to ask the question, what more does this narcissist need to say or do, to prove to Americans that he is a threat to your democracy and your future.

The baying crowd were energised by racist vitriol, the misogyny, antisemitic tropes and the exhibition of white supremacy, with only one thing in mind, divide the nation. The vain excuse of taking Trump seriously but not literally is simply BS. Those after the rally who continue to support Trump have either had frontal lobotomies, are neo nazis or both. Those in the Trump hierarchy see dollars, lots of dollars and a journey to a new Gilead at any cost to social cohesion. As one voter said the Civil War which started in 1861 never really ended.

Multiple speakers also insulted Vice President Harris, one of which was private equity fund manager Grant Cardone referring to her as a “fake.” “Her and her PIMP handlers will destroy our country,”. By the way, Trump’s latest uttering is that he would protect women whether they liked it or not, now this sounds like a man who resembles a PIMP. I shouldn’t be surprised at a Trump voter in the purple state of Arizona response when asked by Clive Myrie about Trump saying, Hitler did some good things and would this make him a Nazi. Like many of his disciples and surrogates the Trump voter responded by saying that Trump’s comments were taken out of context, in that he was referring to Hitler’s organising skills. Clive responded by saying, the organisation skills that allowed him to kill 6 million Jews and millions of others on an industrial scale. The answer, silence, at this point I put my head in my hands and thought, trying to understand Trump supporters is no longer worth the effort.

If Trump wins, the process of undermining American democracy like other authoritarians, will start from the inside out, just as in the 40’s and now updated by Orban and Putin.

No more from me until after the 5th, PROMISE!!! (ish)

Final comment: Respectfully, will someone please take Joe away and out of the public space with no access to the media for the next seven days. PLEASE Jill, for all our sakes.

  1. Amusing that you’re getting worried DT might win 😂. Who knows. And really , who cares ? It won’t be the end of the world – wasn’t last time so there is (sort of) a precedent. Have a Google of Bill Maher’s view on it. He says people are coming up to him saying what will we do if Trump wins and are almost panicking ! Bill isn’t as you’ll see ; it’s very very funny. But the point of it is it won’t be anything other than the world will carry on – hopefully with less wars. Tariffs will become a part of DT’s strategy but again , it is any real big deal. Harris is an imbecile (and you may not admit it , but you well know she is) and if she gets in , again , no biggie. More pressing problems a lot closer to him , like that dreadful budget. Sure it was time for change after the Conservatives mucked things up , but heavens that budget cannot be what the visionaries envisaged. Doesn’t much affect me……but I think Jeremy Clarkson got it right when he said baton down the hatches for the next 5 years and then this lot will be out ! Just about sums it up. The US and UK are similar right now in that the choices at their 2024 respective elections were abysmal. And then there’s those lot on the hill ! 🙈

I would respectfully say that the Trump victory is far from amusing, either on a domestic or international level. Tariffs are inflationary ,anybody with a bit of economic wit would know that. Inflation in the US is 2.7%. Less war ,if you are referring to Ukraine this means appeasement, remember Chamberlain, and in Gaza this means more innocents killed by the butcher Netanyahu and a nod to the creation of a greater Israel on the occupied West bank and Gaza. I don’t think Harris is an imbecile more she was a woman and her failure lies at the feet of Biden, his inner circle and Ron Klain ,Biden’s Chief of Staff. The UK and the US are far from similar, we got rid of Boris over party gate, the US have got a person with no redeeming qualities as a human being for the next 4 years. the The budget was tough but did two important thing, it elevated the word WE and diminished the word I. Trickle up economics is not how you build social cohesion which in my view is the most important role of politics. Budgets are not visionary it sets a trajectory, likes George Osbourne’s austerity narrative that saw no real wage growth and the hollowing out of public services.
If Jeremy is your go political guru , this sounds like a mental health issue. Finally, on the Hill, a mandatory coalition which in effect is an oxymoron, a system of government that was designed to see the end of violence and deliver inertia, 10 out of 10 on both counts. New decade new approach programme for government which was a fairy-tale because the same inmates are running the asylum .
