In Davos, Donald Trump announced the setting up of the Board of Peace, of which he will be the Chair. The announcement was equivalent to Darth Vader replacing António Guterres as Secretary General of the UN. The board is set up fulfill the second phase of Trump’s Middle East peace plan, but has morphed into something bigger, a global peace broker, something the UN never realised when it ratified the idea in November 2025.

Let’s start with the Board’s composition, which is a mixture of neo-fascist, property billionaires, and regional authoritarians. Tony Blair has also joined the board, and as Ash Sarkar in an interview on Newsnight said, when asked why Blair was invited to join the board, she responded saying “Satan was unavailable” and went on to say “that Tony Blair and the Tony Blair Institute have never met a despot its money, it didn’t want to take”. Other luminaries Trump has appointed include Marc Rowan, a Trump donor, Hassan Rashad, Director of Intelligence of the Egyptian Military Dictatorship, as well as his boss and military dictator, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. In addition, Yakir Gabay, a billionaire real estate developer, that’s interesting, if not obvious. Trump, who has provided a $20.0 billion bailout to the Argentinian president Javier Milei, coincidentally has also joined the board. Other neo fascists, who have agreed to join the board, include Lukashenko, Putin, Orban and Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS), to name a few. He has also appointed Jared Kushner to the Board, presumably to look after the family’s interest, Corleone style. By the way, no Palestinians have been invited onto the Board.

This project is simply a property play about the creation of a new Riviera of skyscrapers and luxury apartments. A redevelopment plan which will make the proposed Riviera unaffordable to ordinary Palestinians. In addition, this proposal does nothing for Gazans who have suffered the genocidal onslaught of the IDF, and who simply need the basics to survive, such as water, food, and shelter. From a regional perspective, the charter also ensures that another Arab Spring will never happen in the region, and that is a relief to MBS and his authoritarian neighbours.

The charter of the Board of Peace, which was set up to end the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, does not mention Gaza. Why, because this project is about Trump’s narcissism and his only other interest in life, real estate.

Let us first define a board. A board is responsible for setting the organisation’s strategic direction and ensuring that the organisation has the necessary resources to achieve its goals. The board is also responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates within legal and ethical guidelines. What Trump has created is a scam, like many of his other scams, such as Trump University and selling Trump Bibles.

Below are a few reasons why, and  these are built into the charter:

1. Article 3 Governance:  The Chairman shall have exclusive authority to create, modify, or dissolve subsidiary entities as necessary or appropriate to fulfil the Board of Peace’s mission.
2. Article 6 Legal Status: Executive Board Decisions of the Executive Board shall be made by a majority of its members present and voting, including the Chief Executive. Such decisions shall go into effect immediately, subject to veto by the Chairman at any time thereafter.
3. Article 7 Dispute Resolution: The Chairman is the final authority regarding the meaning, interpretation, and application of this Charter.
4. Article 8 Charter Amendments: amendments shall be adopted upon approval by a two-thirds majority of the Board of Peace and confirmation by the Chairman.

Just to make this project truly Trumpian, there is no financial oversight. To finish, Frank Gardiner, BBC security correspondence said in a podcast that he, meaning Trump,” Gets stuff done,” if he means stuff is a euphemism for bollocks, I agree.
