Firstly, let me start by saying Donald’s resounding victory was nothing of the sort, yes, he won the dysfunctional electoral college handsomely but won the popular vote by a mere 2.5 million on a 63% turnout. His new best friend is another narcissist that is Elon Musk, not because of his great political insight but simply because he is the richest person on the planet. Musk is running around the federal government like a demented sword wielding Gandalf cutting federal programs and employees without understanding the consequences, “I do not give an “F” I am the richest man in the world.” He and his team are also able to get unfettered access to tens of millions of people’s personal data, I wonder why a social media Mogul may want that for? Trump has also appointed one of the authors of Project 25, one Russel Vought as Whitehouse Budget Director and he will be the guy who controls the purse strings, strings he will use to strangle the Federal Government. He was secretly recorded saying he wants to crush the deep state and create a new Christian fundamentalist “Gilead.” When asked by a reporter to explain his views the response was “there they go again, attacking Christians in politics.” Vought and his type are no more Christians than Tomás de Torquemada was a Catholic or Abu Bakr al- Baghdadi was Muslim.
Each and every tech bro has come and prostrated themselves in front of King Trump. Mark “on a very odd spectrum “Suckerberg has sold his soul if he ever had one. He has removed fact checkers and content moderators from Facebook, all in the name of freedom of speech and to get a pat on the head from King Trump. Trump has also appointed more than 10 billionaires to his cabinet whose hands will be in the Federal till. He has created a new plutocracy whose obligation to the so call working classes who voted for Trump, is Zero. Their agenda is clear, avoid tax, amplify their voices, silence critics, and make the system work for them by improving their Net Worth. He has also appointed a bunch of under qualified sycophants to key positions in the Pentagon, National Security, and the FBI. Regarding the FBI, he wants the names of all the agents who were involved in investigating him regarding both the Russia probe and Jan 6th. His new acting Attorney General Emil Bove has summarily removed 24 Justice department prosecutors involved in Jan 6th criminal investigations and I am sure the newly appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi will accelerate the process. In Vice President JD Vance the President and Peter Thiel both have a lap dog.
Trump has started his shock and awe by signing over 200 Executive Orders withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord, the World Health Organisation, the UN Council on Human Rights, removing the constitutional right to birthright citizenship, ending federal diversity equality and inclusion programs which he blamed for the Regan International Airport tragedy, reshaping the military, renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, declaring a national emergency at the southern border and reversing dozens of Biden’s executive orders. One executive order that even stuck in the throat of some Republicans was the pardoning of all the defendants involved in the Jan 6th assault on the state capital, including the leader of right-wing racist group the Proud Boys who was jailed for 22 years for sedition. Trump has imposed 25% tariff on his closest geographical economic friend and ally, Canada. However, imposing 10% tariff on his so-called greatest military and economic threat, China. Economists have reported that a tariff war will reduce the size of the world economy by almost $10 trillion and that would be akin to shooting yourself in the foot. Breaking news, Trump has issued another Executive Order authorising aggressive sanctions against the International Criminal Court for issuing warrants for the arrest of Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Gallant for war crimes. Just to be clear, the IDF have committed many war crimes since October 7th all authorised by Netanyahu and Gallant.
He also wants to take back control of the Panama Canal and plant the stars and stripes on Greenland. Denmark is a close ally and a member of NATO and who lost many soldiers in Afghanistan, supporting the US under article 5 of the NATO Treaty. In addition, Trumps second term will be more disruptive than his first, turning US foreign policy on its head, baffling his allies and foes alike. What is clear that the use of sheer power, a transactional mentality and leverage on the basis that might is right, is a recipe for global chaos. Let us not forget Donald’s inability to separate his personal interests from the interests of the country he so “dearly loves.” He now wants to ethnically cleanse Gaza, take it over and turn it into the new Riviera, just another property deal as he sees it. This put a huge grin on Netanyahu’s face, on the basis that the US has now abandoned a two-state solution.
Political commentators say “don’t take him literally take him seriously, he is thinking out of the box, this brings a whole new definition to the word thinking, he is rattling the cage, the reality is that he should be in it , and he is a disruptor, yes but without a morsal of knowledge and depth, just someone with a Messiah Complex. His monarchical behaviour is that of the Divine Right of Kings, hopefully with a similar outcome, his removal from power if not the removal of his head.
Finally, those who voted for Trump, particularly working people from all ethnicities will not just be failed but their priorities ignored and in hindsight be gutted by the fact they were taken in by Trump’s BS. However, the question remains, will the Dems have a more inspiring alternative in this multi polar world and in a divided America where income and wealth inequality is expanding, a budget deficit 6.5% of GDP and a national debt 123% of GDP, where healthcare is not a right, where money has become an endemic virus in the political system ,where the climate crisis is actually a crisis and where the future of work in a generative AI and quantum computing world cannot be clearly determined. The Dems must find a way to stop the use and abuse of Executive Orders because they cannot rely on Trump’s Supreme Court and before “break things and move faster “overwhelms the American political and legal system. They also need a laser focus on winning back the House, in addition to laying out a problem solving and future facing agenda, if not, the MAGA millions will be screwed by the very person they voted for and the plutocracy he has already created.
