I have written about the conflict in Gaza for over 12 months first, showing empathy for the abhorrent attack by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. I also agreed with Israel’s right to defend itself and go after Hamas, an organisation whose Islamic fundamentalism, authoritarianism, and misogyny, I have no time for. October 7th no matter its brutality, was not the start of the conflict but decades of political failure, the brutality meted out to young Palestinians engaged in two intifadas, the dehumanising of a nation and the creation of an apartheid within Israel and the occupied territories. The current onslaught by the Israeli state leaves a generation of young Palestinians with no hope of any kind of future and will certainly create Hamas 2.0, 3.0 and on and on. I have compared the onslaught and the massacre of innocent Palestinians to the Warsaw Ghetto and Guernica. I have also now used words like genocide and ethnic cleansing to describe the Israeli military onslaught. An onslaught that has seen 30000 women and children killed which has included the killing multiple of generations with one strike, all described as collateral damage. What I cannot understand is why the Israelis just do not call Palestinians what the Nazis called Jews, vermin. It was words like this that allowed Nazis and ordinary Germans to participate in the industrialised murder of 6,000000 Jews and millions of others who did not meet the Aryan Race standard. Talking about the ordinary people, have all Israelis lost their sense of humanity or, as former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert put it “that the act of collective punishment being perpetrated in Gaza and the West Bank undermines Israel’s moral foundation.” Here is a bit of advice for ordinary Israelis, and it comes from the title of a book written by Richard Forer “Wake Up and Reclaim Your Humanity.”
War crimes are being committed daily by Israeli forces with the complete support of the current Israeli government and the majority of Israeli people. Crimes that include the bombing of hospitals, schools, safe zones, and critical infrastructure such as water and electricity. Apartment blocks full of families are flattened on the basis that there “might” be a Hamas fighter inside. Furthermore, Israel is preventing food and medical aid from reaching destitute Palestinians, a breach of all international conventions. Anthony Blinken said that if Israel did not allow at least 350 truckloads of aid a day to enter Gaza he would restrict arms supplies. Independent observers noted that Israel had barely allowed 35 trucks per day to enter Gaza. Blinken responds by saying, that Israel has delivered on its promise. All this terror is perpetrated by an Israeli government with arms supplied by the US, UK, Germany, and other Western European democracies. Genocide is being committed on their watch as these democratic leaders are schmoozing at the G20 event in Brazil talking about trade deals. By the way, Brazil is a country that is part of the BRICS alliance which includes Russia.
What is clear, is that the Jewish nation and I mean Israel, due to Western Holocaust Guilt, Western democracies are allowing God’s chosen people to inflict on Palestinians similar war crimes that were perpetrated on Jews during the Second World War. It was a crime against humanity then, it is a crime against humanity now. The anti-Nazi coalition did little then, and we are seeing the same being played out today. Trump’s new Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee an Evangelical Christian Zionist believes there is no such place as Palestine which means there are no such people as Palestinians. He also said “I believe the scripture. Genesis 12: Those who bless Israel will be blessed, those who curse Israel will be cursed. I want to be on the blessing side, not the curse side.” The new Ambassador, a Christian man devoid of any humanity for the 30,000 innocent women and children killed in the occupied territories. He and his friend whose name and values start with an “N” will work closely with Huckabee to enforce the utterings of the megalomaniac portrayed in Genesis. Something to watch will be how the authoritarian states in the region will react when Huckabee tries to impose a new version of the Abraham Accord again, with no reference to a two-state solution. Sadly, I do not think MBS and his fellow regional leaders have any balls and will capitulate.
The Tragedy of the Nakba in 1948 when 750,000Palastinians were removed from the new Israeli State with no right of return, followed by two intifadas, the genocide in Gaza, and ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, Israeli officials only referring to Gaza and the West Bank as Judea and Samaria, all now feed into the unchallenged narrative that there is no such thing as Palestinian homeland. In a groundbreaking article in 1965 by journalist Bernard Levin called “Am I Jew” he condemned the Nakba as a crime. Parts of the media and right some politicians have deliberated conflated a genuine criticism of Israels ethnic cleansing with antisemitism. No one can and I mean no one, can support this ongoing Israeli killing spree and a government described by Olmert as a far-right messianic coalition which includes the likes of Ben Gvir, Bezalel Smotrich, and the man with the most blood on his hands Benjamin Netanyahu. The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defence Minister Gallant, what was the response from the Israeli leaders, antisemitism, antisemitism in the name of Jehovah it is antisemitism. One thing for sure is that the Israeli nation has mastered the art of cancel culture.
I will finish by saying that if the phrase “Never Again” coined by a number of freed political internees at Dachau means, that this type and scale of man’s inhumanity to man must never be repeated, sadly the phrase now seems. REDUNDANT
