Palestinian Armageddon

As I watch the relentless ethnic cleansing of Gazans by the IDF and a more subtle version of the same being carried out by Ben Gavir and his settler friends in the Westbank, all overseen by Israel’s version of Voldemort in the guise of Netanyahu, my faith in humanity is at an all-time low. Firstly, I am saddened that our government and the right honourable opposition did not have the political balls or humanity to call for a ceasefire. When they did, it was either prefixed by the word “sustainable” or a pathetic euphemism such as a “humanitarian pause,” even after the deaths of 12500 children.

The Labour Party under Corbyn was accused of being antisemites, under Starmer the party have moved to be “Israeli Hugites.” In addition, both Keir Starmer and David Lammy have received donations from the pro-Israeli lobby group Labour Friends of Israel. It is blatantly obvious that the Labour Friends of Israel has influenced the Labour Party’s position on Israel, resulting in the Labour leadership’s inability to call for a ceasefire weeks ago. This was reported in an article in Declassified late last year, click below.

I have two disappointments ( which is an understatement), one being the failure of the so-called “West” to call for a ceasefire and to take the necessary steps to stop Israel from this ongoing ethnic cleansing, for example, stop sending the Israelis weapons and use diplomatic pressure to get land crossings open to deliver urgently needed aid to civilians who are on the verge of starvation. Instead, Big Joe is going to build a pier and temporary port on the Gaza coast to deliver aid. This will take two months, allowing Netanyahu and his rouge government to complete the destruction of Gaza and the subjugation of the Palestinian people.

My second disappointment is the failure of the Israeli people to rise and show their humanity for the suffering and deaths of Palestinian women and children. They seem to be seeing a different war than me. I suggest they are either being hoodwinked by local right-wing media, Israel’s “Ministry of Truth” or some have lost all sense of humanity. The pogrom that took place on the 7th of October lies at the feet of Hamas and its leadership. However, the failure to stop October 7th. and the subsequent actions of IDF, I reluctantly, though accurately, would call war crimes against innocent Palestinians, lies at the feet of Netanyahu and his ultra-religious and right-wing Jewish settler movement that makes up part of his coalition government. This coalition has no interest in Israel’s security but to only implement their version of a much-maligned chant “From the river to the sea, not a Palestinian will be seen.” The Israeli people rose in their hundreds of thousands when their Prime Minister tried to undermine their democracy, where are you now when it is not just your democracy at stake? He is undermining your security by ensuring the creation of Hamas 2.0, of which many are still to be born and in effect turning Israel into a pariah state. Israel’s former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called this current Israeli government a “messianic right-wing coalition” and went on to say in an interview on CNN that the action being taken in the form of collective punishment by the IDF and the Israeli terrorism in the Westbank supported by Ben Gvir, undermines Israel’s moral foundation.

I support Israel as a member of the international community and my father told me about the creation of Israel, Ben Gurion, the 6-day war and Golda Meir. Still, you the Israeli people cannot let this “messianic right-wing coalition” undermine the deep empathy of the global community resulting from the Holocaust. Furthermore, the continuing actions of your government will undermine your prosperity, your future security, your democracy, your international standing, and the future of your children. It is time to rise and democratically remove Netanyahu and his henchmen.

Finally, there is no doubt that October 7th evoked memories of the past for many Israelis. However, October 7th is one of a series of tragic events that have scared both Israelis and Palestinians. It was also a failure of Palestinians to speak with one voice and the failure of regional powers to fully engage in the post-Oslo Accords and who again overlooked (or could not be bothered) the creation of a Palestinian state into the design of the Abraham Accords. The international community failed to push both parties on the creation of a Palestinian state. This Israeli governing coalition which include the likes of Ben Gvir, are dead against the only solution that guarantees Israelis and Palestinians a secure, peaceful, and prosperous future, this is the creation of a viable Palestinian State. My only bit of advice to Israelis and the wider Jewish diaspora is to listen to former Prime Minister Olmert and better late than never, the comments from Chuck Schumer.
