The country’s current excuse for a Prime Minister has no political spine, no integrity, no leadership qualities, no plan for the country’s future, no vision, no industrial strategy, no economic competence, no professionalism, no accountability and finally, no understanding of the lived experience of the many who are suffering under this cost-of-living crisis.
Let us start with the first, No Spine, he made a speech to highlight the vulnerability of our democracy to extremism but failed to call out Frank Hester’s alleged comments as racist, until two Black Tory MPs described Frank Hester’s comment about Diane Abbot as racists. Until then, Rishi’s line was simply that Hester’s comments were shockingly inappropriate, including a comment that she should” be shot.” No integrity, not even after being forced to acknowledge that Hester’s comments were racist, he refuses to hand back the £10 million donated by Hester to the Tory Party. He conflates the obligations of a democratic nation, Israel with that of the terrorist group, Hamas. He suffers from Tourette’s when confronted with the word ceasefire. All of this should not come as a surprise to anyone, in that his new best political bit on the side is Georgio Meloni. Let us not forget his use of “non-dom “status to save his poor wife £20 million in tax from her several hundred-million-pound fortune. No leadership qualities, as he presides over a fracturing Tory Party. This can be seen in the evolution of fringe elements in the party, like Kruger’s and Cates’s “We are the Christians we hate the Romans” grouping.
No vision, rolling back the commitment to net zero and his ambition to abolish National Ins which will take £46 billion out of the public purse. No industrial strategy, what do expect from a guy who made all his money in funny finance as a hedge fund manager and then married the daughter of an Indian billionaire. The fact that the US has passed the Chips Act the Inflation Reduction Act, and the EU has done similar, does not seem to bother him. He has done nothing to deal with the housing crisis that young people face. He has clearly forgotten about his mentor’s property-owning democracy. Well, done mate. No economic competence, this can be seen in the “scorched earth” budget that he and his Weasley friend next door concocted. The strategy is, if we lose the election, we will leave a shit show behind for Rachel. He voted for Brexit, which has not worked out well, especially if the objective was Global Britain. As Chancellor, he gave Astra Zeneca £ 35 million of public funds to support the development of the COVID-19 vaccine. However, when Astra Zeneca decided to invest £300 million in a new facility, where did they go, Ireland. This is directly because of Brexit and the fact that Rishi increased the corporation tax rate from 19% to 25%, so much for supporting life sciences in the UK. No professionalism was visible by its absence. No accountability, other than to those who anointed him as Prime Minister and Tory donors. No understanding of community and other people’s lived experience, in that he has prioritised tax cuts for the better off, as opposed to investment in public services that build social cohesion.
He has presided over the worst polling in Conservative Party history, at PM questions other than bringing up Starmer’s part in Corbyn’s Labour Party he has little to contribute. Though his Trans jibe when Brianna Ghey’s mother was in the House went down like a lead balloon. His election strategy is around culture wars on gender, immigration, and extremism. Remember this is the guy who has blown £400 million to send two ministers to Rwanda. His speeches particularly the one on extremism, made on the steps of number 10, implied that our democracy was in danger, clearly taking a leaf out of Enoch Powell’s infamous “rivers of blood” speech. From PMQ’s to his speech on extremism, all are delivered like an Android that uses Chat GPT. To add, let us not forget his starry-eyed swooning over Elon Musk. This guy can hardly hold an audience, let alone the Tory Party together.
Finally, Sunak is the worst PM of this country in decades. This is largely because Liz Truss did not have enough time to prove otherwise. He is worse than Boris, simply because anyone with a bit of wit and who followed Boris‘s career knew he was a narcissistic self-serving opportunist. Sunak sees himself as a proud Hindu, which does not make you a bad person. However, his faith is underpinned by the principle of Sanatan Dharma an absolute set of duties to your fellow human being, he should check it out. Again, just to emphasise, having a faith does not make you a bad person, but frankly Rishi, as Prime Minister, zero points.
